Is the shampoo really good for your dog?
HIDDEN DANGERS OF SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE
(AIGC, Inc. got this information from a dentist in USA)

Sodium Lauryl (Laureth) Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (SLES) are inexpensive ingredients found in more than 90% of commercially available shampoos, conditioners, and toothpastes. They are used as detergents, foaming agents, and for viscosity building. Industrial uses of SLS include: garage floor cleaners, engine degreasers, and car wash soaps. They are very corrosive and readily attack grease.

These are some of the most irritating ingredients in personal care products. In fact, SLS is used in testing labs as the standard skin irritant to compare the healing properties of other ingredients.

The basis for SLES is lauryl alcohol, a C-12, fatty acid that is fractionated from coconut oil. From there the material is reacted with sulfuric acid to form lauryl sulfate and then neutralized with sodium hydroxide and finally reacted with ethylene oxide. Though some companies claim it to be all natural and derived from coconut oil, the final result is far distant from its original source.

Here are the potential dangers:
-A study at the Medical College of Georgia indicated that SLS penetrated into the eyes as well as brain, heart, liver, etc., and showed long-term retention in the tissues. The study also indicated that SLS penetrated young children’s eyes and prevented them from developing properly and caused cataracts to develop in adults.

-Research has shown that SLS and SLES may cause potentially carcinogenic nitrates and dioxins to form in the bottles of shampoos and cleansers by reacting with commonly used ingredients found in many products. Large amounts of nitrates may enter the blood from just one shampooing.

-Potentially damaging to skin and hair. It cleans by corrosion and may cause hair loss by attacking the follicle. It is classified as a drug in bubble baths because it eats away skin protection and can cause rashes and infection to occur.
